About Us

The name Katzenstein

Pictured in the top is Charles, the bottom is his grandfather and the inspiration for our kennel name.

Charles is a double combat vet who was deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Charles helps with all the dogs training, including bite work and akc sports/show. He helps watch our son when I'm in the show ring and is the most supportive involved father ever.

We pretty much do everything together and I can't imagine running the farm and kennel without him.

About me, Alexis

My history

Showing and training animals is definitely nothing new to me. At the age of 5 my mother bought my sister and me our first Shetland ponies.  I had a mare for English ridding and a proud cut stud for driving. We lived in town in a beautiful huge 100 year old house in Michigan at that time.

Showing

We moved into a 100 year old farm house on land when I was around 8. That is where my mom bought me a beautiful pair of show line German Shepards and two larger ponies. I took basic obedience classes with the GSDs and desperately wanted to do more with them however my mother only had interest in the horses. I soon out grew the ponies and she bought me the two very green broke registered AQHA  that I showed in western classes for nearly 6 years.

Moving to North Carolina

In 2000 we moved to Tryon North Carolina with the 4 AQHA. The move was made because I started showing English and the show circuit was much bigger here. My mother built a huge show stable here for me and I showed in Hunter jumper and Hunter flat for a few years and explored countless miles of FETA and FENC trails.
