Raw feeding is providing the best possible diet for your Canine companion. We have fed Raw consistently for nearly 10 years and generations of dogs, leading to absolutely wonderful results. Our dogs are athletic, have great fur, consistently passing OFA hip/elbow, consistently passing cardio screening, have beautiful healthy puppies and we have yet to see cancer or thyroid issues.
Bagged feed puts a dog in constant dehydration. It leads to over drinking, twice as often the need to use the bathroom and possible long term damage.
If you feed bagged feed please soak it in water for a few hours before feeding it!
Our staple for our dogs and cats is chicken consisting of around 50% of their diet. We have had zero allergic reactions to chicken. The other 50% consists of beef, deer, pork, rabbit, eggs, raw milk and lamb. We feed on average 2%-3% of the dogs total body weight.
The horrible smell of poop when bagged fed and how it seems to never biodegrade is also a large factor for us. Raw fed poop is clean with next to no smell and is gone when rained on.
Raw feeding is the equivalent of a home cooked meal like steak, potatoes and fresh vegetables, who doesn't want that?
Bagged feed is the equivalent of dry cereal. Yes you can live on it but who would want to?
We highly recommend watching the documentary "Pet fooled".
"Raw meat can make you sick" This is a big scare tactic many use to run good owners away from raw. Unless you run a house hold consisting of zero raw meat, go to restaurants that never serve meat and grow your own greens risk free of contamination, there is always a risk. Being responsible when making your own food and feeding you dog is key. Most people eat medium rare steak, body builders eat raw eggs, most people drink raw milk, and sushi is raw fish. We are still alive and doing 👍
People like to say "if raw was safe studies would prove its better than (example) Purina/hill's"
Well us small breeders and small group of educated medical professionals can not afford a multi million dollar long term study. Purina and others are billion dollar corporations making profit and selling products to make the most money at the least risk. Why would they ever do a 5, 10, 15 year study against raw? They would not meet the same quality outcomes and they 100% know this. You can say the facts are in the lack of studies.
Grain free feeds are extremely popular and also extremely unhealthy. The "grain free" bagged fed have more recalls than normal feed and many have lead to dietary DCM, a painful death sentence. It is a unsafe and never recommended and will void all health guarantee on your puppy from us. The fillers are often poor quality and lead to diarrhea, weight loss, thyroid issues and diabetes. We have personally seen all symptoms when buyers have struggled and even lost dogs while disregarding our plea to change food.
If for some reason you just can't feed a raw diet we only recommend Victor High pro plus and 50% raw meat.
Puppy buyers have had good results doing a 50/50 Victor and raw diet.
Soak the dry feed in water for a few hours before you feed it!
When we feed Victor we soak Victor in raw goat milk, add ground beef and raw eggs. Some times we add 20%-30% diced lamb, deer, or rabbit. They get 1-3 cups multiple times a week IF working hard and burning more calories than normal, have puppies or in winter if need extra fat.
High energy or the purple bag "professional " might also work well for some dogs. We have used it in the past but some of the dogs preferred pro plus.
Our dogs also get these vitamins.
We are happy with Pet Honesty products.
